Instead of spending 45 minutes on weight work and adding another 25 to 30 minutes on cardio, why not combine the two for a total of 25-30 minutes of uninterrupted rowing machine exercise. Though it might take some time to work up to a 30-minute rowing machine commitment, once you do so, you’ll find that the strength and look of the muscles in your back, shoulders, arms and legs will have improved dramatically. And, without question, your cardiovascular endurance will be considerably better as well. If you are a member of a gym and you find that you are short on time, head straight to the rowing machine area. One of the most popular and effective rowing machines that many gyms now have are the concept2 rowers. They come with a chain driven mechanism that makes for smooth rowing strokes. The seat easily slides forward and backward, which allows you to seamlessly incorporate the use of your legs in each stroke. The newer concept 2 rowers have easy-to-use monitors that display time, distance, calories, speed, and many other measurements to keep track of all the important exercise related information. For those of you that prefer the quiet and solitude of working out in your own home, rowing machine exercise is the perfect alternative to the gym. Along with the concept2 rower, there are a host of other brands that produce high-quality rowing machines. The type of rower might differ, but the end result of a total body workout in a limited time period is what all the rowers have in common. So it makes no difference if you buy a water rower, an air rowing machine, or any other style, what you are after is something that is substantially built – something that will hold up after repeated use. Of the commercial rowing machines, you won’t go wrong if you buy a rower from Kettler, Lifecore and Tunturi, among others. There are number of models that each one of these brands offers. Read up on the ratings and compare prices for all of the models. If you can’t find a commercial rower at one of the area sporting goods stores, you might buy a day pass or two to some of the local gyms and try out their commercial models. If you find one to your liking, follow up on the brand and the model. You can go a long way toward accomplishing your exercise goals if you decide to explore the used market. After all, it is the exercise that you are after in your rowing machine, not some special look or feature that is particularly eye-catching. A word of caution is offered when you buy something used. As the commercial rowers have fairly involved mechanisms, you will want to buy something that has a proven track record. Try out the rower and have the current owner take you though all the features. Try to limit your buying to items that have accompanying manufacturer information. But regardless of whether you are a regular gym attendee or do your exercise at home, a rowing machine focus can do the trick. So make a b-line to the rower at the gym, or clear out just a little space at home and get to exercising.
